Heavily overgrown with trees and scrub. Described by Carrigan (1905, vol. 3, 226) as a 'rath' known as 'Raheen-Dunaegan (Raighín-Dúin-Aedhgáin), that is, the Raheen originally known as Aedhgan's Fort'. It is depicted on the 25-inch OS map as an oval area (dims. c. 60m N-S; c. 44m E-W) enclosed by an outer bank (overall dims. c. 88m N-S; c. 70m E-W), though the outer bank is not depicted from E-SE. A local fairy fort (ringfort/rath) known historically as Raheen-Dunaegan, likely dating to the early medieval period and associated with the figure Aedhgan. It is traditionally linked to local folklore surrounding fairy dwellings and ancient septs.
