Enclosure

What is recorded here

Situated on poorly drained rock outcrop in undulating countryside. Depicted on the 1843 ed. OS 6-inch map as a small circular enclosure, not indicated on subsequent editions of the OS 6-inch maps. The W half of the enclosure is shown upstanding as a curving bank on the revised 1901 ed. OS 25-inch map. Not visible at ground level. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 09 January 2012
