What is recorded here

Monanaleen holds two forgotten enclosures in County Clare, separated by a hundred and ten metres of green pasture. The first appeared as a circular shadow on an 1842 map, large enough for a small ringfort, yet disappeared completely from human memory before modern cameras arrived. The second remains a possibility, waiting beneath the grass like a sleeping animal. Neither place resists discovery; both simply stopped answering the questions people asked them.
In a small hollow in undulating, improved pasture. Hachured on the first edition (1842) of the OS 6-inch map as a circular enclosure (est. diam. c. 25m), probably a ringfort. No surface traces were visible when inspected in 1998. A second possible enclosure (CL017-026----) site lies c. 110m to the SSE.
