What is recorded here

Enclosure in Lyrath is a rectangular shadow in Kilkenny farmland, visible only when crop growth differs across old buried lines. It sits beside another enclosure, a ringfort and a curving trackway, suggesting a neighbourhood rather than a lonely feature. People may have lived, herded or marked boundaries there before the land was repeated into modern fields. The shape has survived because soil, moisture and root depth still remember the hands that made it.

In tillage. Identified as a cropmark on an aerial photograph (CUCAP BDI005 and BDI006, 14 July 1970) and interpreted as a possible rectangular enclosure. It is also possible that this is part of a larger co-axial field system running NE-SW. There is another rectilinear cropmark enclosure (KK020-030002-) immediately to the S and a ringfort (KK020-031----) c. 100m to the SW. A curving trackway (KK020-030003-) was also identified as a cropmark, running roughly NE-SW to the NW of the ringfort.
