Enclosure in Lusk was a multi-period site excavated ahead of the Relief Road, its early medieval phase marked by successive penannular ditches twenty-five to forty metres across. Those ditches held E-ware and a pseudo-pennanular bronze ring pin, pointing to seventh through ninth century life. The shape suggests people kept returning to mark the same ground, perhaps for ritual, trade or memory, long before the road cut through it.

Excavated in advance of Lusk Relief Road (Licence no. 02E1529) this was a multi-period site. The early medieval phase was characterised by successive penannular ditches (25m-40m diam.). These contained E-ware and a pseudo-pennanular bronze ring pin suggesting a 7th-9th century date (Johnston 2002). Compiled by: Christine Baker Date of upload: 5 February 2015
