Enclosure in Loughcrew

Located on a rise towards the bottom of the SE-facing slope of the NNW-SSE Carrigawaddy ridge, with lower ground to the NE. It is not depicted on any edition of the OS 6-inch map. This is a small subrectangular grass-covered enclosure (dims 15m N-S; 14.5m E-W) that slopes down to the NE (H 1.4m). It is defined by low earthen banks (at W: Wth of base 4m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 0.2m) but the E side is reduced to a scarp (Wth 1m; H 0.7m). There is no visible fosse or entrance but there are E-W cultivation ridges in the interior and it is probably a post-medieval garden.
