What is recorded here

Enclosure in Lissaniska South stood as a subrectangular ring on a grassy hillock in County Galway, large enough to hold a small village or a forgotten ceremony. Children were buried inside it, suggesting the site served life and death together rather than marking one or the other. Farming or curiosity shaved much of the bank away before 1946, leaving only a low eastern ridge for people to stumble across. The place still works like a threshold: a flat summit where the dead were kept close and the living could have gathered above them.

Marked on the 1838 edition of the OS 6-inch map as a subrectangular enclosure (c. 25m N-S; c. 20m E-W); partially levelled by the time of 1946 edition. All that survives is a low bank at E.
