Enclosure in Lislaughtin

This sub-circular enclosure is situated on rising land. To the E of this site lies Glashanagalloon stream (stream of the sparrows), which flows NW into Ballylongford Creek. The enclosing earthen bank is 6m wide and rises to a maximum of 4.4m high externally and 1.5m internally. The exterior side to the N through E is steep due to its rising above the stream; the interior is sloping sharply NE. In the E sector of the interior is a depression, 5.4m N-S, 6m E-W. This enclosure measures internally 34m N-S and 41.5m E-W. The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle.
