Enclosure in Lisduff (kilconnell By.)

Enclosure

What is recorded here

In level farmland. Two curving lines of hachures on 3rd ed. of OS 6-inch map (1933) appear to indicate the presence of a roughly circular enclosure (D c. 60m), immediately to SE of which the symbol for a well is also shown. With the exception of the well, which occupies a large hollow, no visible surface trace survives. An earthwork (GA085-077----) lay c. 100m to SW. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). Date of upload: 05 August 2010
