What is recorded here

Situated on top of Knockloon Hill, c. 40m E of a ring-barrow (CL016-137----) and c. 12m E of another enclosure . A circular enclosure partially revealed as a geophysical anomaly by the Irish Fieldschool of Prehistoric Archeology (NUIG) and partially excavated in 2018 (Ó Maoldúin 2020). The enclosure manifested as an enclosure c. 18m in diameter defined by a 1m wide ditch with a possible entrance at E. The excavations are not complete and it is intended to continue in due course. A circular early-medieval ringfort, likely dating to between the 5th and 10th centuries, situated on Knockloon Hill. Though folklore is not specifically recorded for this site, like many such forts in Ireland, it may have later been associated with local fairy traditions or territorial boundaries in rural legend.
