What is recorded here

Knockane held a circular enclosure around a holy well on the 1842 map, but by 1916 barely a shadow of that boundary remained. The place did not vanish in a day; it likely surrendered gradually to farms, roads, forgetting or the simple human habit of taking sacred margins for itself. What is left is a hole in the landscape where a circle once stood, inviting imagination to complete what certainty has abandoned.

A holy well (KE014-020001-) would seem to have been situated in a circular enclosure (KE014-020004-) on the 1842 map. However, by the 1916 map, very little of the enclosure would appear to be left.
