Enclosure in Kilteely — Report the wrong picture

Kilteely Hill stands 580 feet above the plain, keeping a circular enclosure twenty-five metres wide in pasture beside its summit. The bank resists easy explanation, yet it faces a fair green and a church, suggesting people gathered there before maps learned to draw it. Airborne cameras revealed what boots and hedges had hidden, proving the hill still holds a shape worthy of attention.

In pasture 145m NW of the summit of Kilteely Hill (OD 580 ft.) and immediately SW of the 'Fair Green' annotated on 1840 ed. OSi 6-inch map. Enclosure (LI033-123----) lies 65m to E and church (LI033-008----) 145m to SE. Not depicted on historic OSi maps. Identified by Bruff aerial photographic survey in 1986 (Bruff 88; AP 4/3612) as a cropmark. Visible as a roughly circular-shaped area (diam. c. 25m) enclosed by a bank on OSi orthophotos taken between 2005-2012 and on Google Earth orthoimage dated 20/09/2020.
