What is recorded here

Kilconly North held a circular enclosure beside a small stream, visible on maps from 1840-41 until local activity levelled the earth. Aerial photography in 1974 recovered the faded shape, suggesting that people once drew a clear boundary around life, death or memory before the field swallowed it. The enclosure no longer commands notice, yet it resists forgetting because the land retained enough of its line for another age to read.

This site is situated NNW of Kilconly Church (926), and a small stream runs to the S of it. It is marked on the 1840-41 and 1914-15 OS maps as a circular enclosure. Though levelled, this site can be picked up on the Geological Survey of Ireland's aerial photographs (1974). The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’.
