What is recorded here
Enclosure in Irishtown is an oval ditched feature on the NW slope of Windmill Hill, entwined with the Irishtown henge. It measures about 50m by 35m and still carries a 3m-wide ditch visible from the NW, E and S. The henge bank and ditch pass beneath its edge, suggesting one ancient place was remade rather than replaced.
Located on the gentle NW-facing slope of Windmill Hill. A magnetic gradiometer survey (17R0020) by J. M. Leigh (2017) identified two enclosures and a possible third entwined with the perimeter of the Irishtown henge. An oval feature (dims c. 50m plus NW-SE; c. 35m NE-SW) is defined by a ditch (Wth c. 3m), which is evident NW-E-S. It is situated over the signal for the bank and ditch of the henge at the NW edge of that feature, and another enclosure (ME038-011003-) is entwined just to the NE.
