In rough hill grazing, on bog, in a NE-facing hollow with views across the valley of the Mealagh River to the Maughanaclea Hills. An irregularly shaped area (25m NE-SW; 10m NW-SE) is enclosed by the rough face of outcropping rock (H 4m) at NW and elsewhere by the lower courses of a largely collapsed roughly constructed drystone wall (T 1m; H 0.7m), from which rubble has spilled mainly inwards, especially along the SE side. The well-defined entrance (Wth 0.9m) is at NE. (Myler 1998, 85) The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009).
