Farranacarriga holds an enclosure that defies easy belief. It appeared on early maps as a vague circular mark, yet modern eyes see only empty ground. The land kept a secret the surveyors could not name, perhaps a forgotten mound or a abandoned fort. What is certain is that the place still resists explanation, leaving behind a boundary drawn in uncertainty rather than stone.

On the 1st edition of the OS map, this site was marked by a sub-circular ring of hachures, possibly indicating a mound or a poorly-preserved ringfort, but there is no trace of such features on the ground today and its classification remains uncertain.
