Enclosure in Eoghanacht

Enclosure

What is recorded here

Two sections of walling are visible (a) to the W of the cross-slab (GA110-023013-) and (b) c. 2m to the W of Teampall Bhreacáin/Temple Brecan (GA110-010001-). Gateways survive in both walls, that in the W wall (L c. 5m) is capped with a simple flat lintel, while that in E wall (L 12.6m; H 2m) has a two-piece round-headed arch. Waddell (1973, 7, Fig. 1) suggests that from the position of the gateways the function of the walling was simply to enclose both Leaba on Spioraid Naoimh (GA110-023002-) and Leaba Bhreacáin (GA110-023001-).
