What is recorded here

Dundaryark in County Kilkenny once held a rath, but a machine or men levelled it into ordinary soil, erasing the very wall that defined the place. O'Kelly wrote the loss in 1969, while maps from 1839 and 1947 never marked it at all. The enclosure escaped every instrument of record, suggesting it belonged to memory rather than measurement. Its disappearance is not a gap in knowledge; it is a warning that visibility itself can be withdrawn.

According to O'Kelly (1969, 180) in Dundaryark townland, 'A rath here was levelled some years ago'. There is no indication of an enclosure in this townland on the 1st (1839) ed.
