Enclosure

What is recorded here

In tillage. An aerial photograph (GB91.EH.06, 17 July 1991; ASIAP (20) 0-6, August 1996) shows a cropmark of a rectilinear enclosure (dims. c. 48m NW-SE; c. 40m NE-SW at NW and c. 43m at SE) defined by a fosse; the fosse is indented on the W side. Aerial photograph (GB99.GG.03, 12 July 1999) also shows two linear fosses extending from the enclosure indicative of an associated field system (KK019-128----). A dark green cropmark within the enclosure suggests internal structures, possibly a Man-made underground passage (KK019-129----). The enclosure is also visible on satellite imagery (Google Earth Pro, 27 January 2019 and 21 April 2019). See attached: KK019-127----_01 Google Earth Pro satellite imagery, 21 April 2019 Compiled by: Dr. Gillian Barrett for the Archaeological Survey of Ireland and Jean Farrelly Date of revised upload: 22 October 2020
