Enclosure in Corralough

Enclosure

What is recorded here

Associated with an enclosure (GA006-055----). Marked on 1st ed. of OS map as a small circular enclosure (D c. 15m); no visible surface trace survives. Due to considerable changes in the field boundaries between 1st and 3rd (1930) eds., it is difficult to plot its location in relation to the larger enclosure shown on the latter ed. or to the remains visible on the ground. However, from the evidence provided by 1st ed. map, it would appear to have been situated in NW quadrant of the larger enclosure. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). Date of upload: 05 August 2010
