Cooloultha held a circular churchyard like a rath, though no graves or headstones remained visible. The ancient church vanished centuries before people still spoke of it, and the enclosure survived until it was uprooted in 1847. Its exact spot has been lost, but the place still suggests a forgotten worship hidden beneath ordinary Kilkenny soil.

A 'churchyard' (KK003-035002-) in Cooloultha, described by Carrigan (1905, vol. 2, 279) as 'uprooted in the year 1847, previous to which it consisted of a circular enclosure, like a rath, with no trace of graves or headstones. The church (KK003-035001-), which was of very early times, had disappeared centuries before, leaving, however, down to the present day a distinct tradition of its existence'.
