What is recorded here

Castlecarra holds an oval enclosure, fifteen metres across, bounded by a low wall of dumped stone. It sits in scrub beside a promontory fort and another enclosure, suggesting a settled landscape rather than a lonely marker. The wall is barely visible above the ground, yet it defines a separate space where people may have kept animals, stored tools or performed rituals. Its modest size and rough construction point to everyday life, not grand display.

In scrub, sloping to N. Lake promontory fort (MA099-018----) c. 600m to E and enclosure (MA099-018001-) to NW. Oval area (14.7m N-S; 15.6m E-W), enclosed by a dry stone wall (Wth 2m; H 0.3m) of dump construction. The above description has been derived from D.
