What is recorded here

Enclosure in Castlecarra is a circular stone boundary on the Lough Carra shore, preserving a small lived space beside a much larger promontory fort. Its wall is only thirty centimetres high but still distinct after centuries of lakeshore change. The hidden rock inside suggests people valued the place enough to shape, mark or remember it.

On lakeshore, heavily overgrown. Lake promontory fort (MA099-018----) c. 600m to E and enclosure (MA099-018002-) to SE. Circular area (11m N-S; 11.9m E-W), enclosed by stone wall (Wth 1.7m; H 0.3m).
