Enclosure in Carrowneden was a broad oval rath on a NE-facing ridge in County Mayo, large enough for a household and visible across pasture before it was levelled. The property fence still bends to preserve its eastern curve, suggesting people valued the shape even after the mound disappeared. It may have watched the northern horizon for days, while a second rath waited eight metres south, like a forgotten neighbour.

In pasture, located on a NE-facing slope on a NW–SE ridge. The spine of the ridge restricts views to SE but there are extensive views to N–NE. Shown on the 1916 OS 6-inch map as a broadly oval enclosure (c. 45-50m N–S; c. 55-60m E–W), incorporated into a field fence at N–SE which respects the curve of the enclosure. This rath has been levelled. The N–SE curve of the property fence preserves the outline of the E side of the rath but no other evidence of the rath is visible at ground level. It was constructed on a slope, and the interior area appears to have encompassed a relatively level area at S–SW from which ground slopes down to NE.
