What is recorded here

Enclosure in Carran is a 60m circular ditch in Kilkenny pasture, cut by a farm road and sharing space with an old cairn. The aerial picture showed the ditch, the road, the cairn and a long narrow track reaching its edge. People may have farmed, buried or passed through that same spot before the field took it back.
In reclaimed pasture. A circular enclosure (diam. c. 60m) defined by a fosse which was identified as a cropmark on an aerial photograph (CUCAP ATS012, 19 July 1967). A field boundary, with farm roadway along the W side, runs NNW-SSE through the W side of the enclosure. This field boundary also runs through a cairn (KK024-021004-), covered in scrub on the aerial photograph, which occupies the NW quadrant of the enclosure. Faint curvilinear cropmarks to the NW of the enclosure (KK024-021002-) may be another enclosure or part of a field system associated with the enclosure. Also clearly visible on the aerial photograph is the cropmark of two parallel ditches forming a narrow roadway (L c. 160m) running NE-SW up to the SW perimeter of the circular enclosure.
