What is recorded here

Camp in Ballyseedy is a limestone knife-edge where cattle still walk, its old banks cut in two by a modern wall that took stones from the very enclosures it divides. The surviving curve rises a metre and a half on the south-east, red sandstone mixed with white limestone, facing the open valley as if it had been made to watch rather than hide. Whatever lived there has been grazed, dug and rebuilt into farm utility, but the top remains unblocked in every direction, a small high room left behind on the edge of the land.

'These sites are situated on top of a limestone reef approximately 300m to the west of the cairn/complex [KE038-101----]. These sites have been much denuded because of an attempt to reclaim this reef which is located on a large dairy farm, and have been much trampled by cattle. Also a substantial N-S running stone wall has neatly bisected this reef, and probably utilised stone from the enclosures and banks in its construction. The top of this reef affords unobstructed views in all directions, but the dominant aspect is primarily southwards. A curving bank occurs at the south-eastern side of the reef, running for c. 8.00m from south- west to north-east. It has a maximum height of 1.40m, a maximum width of 6.50m and is 0.30m high internally. The stone in this bank is a mixture of limestone and red sandstone. A scatter of stone is evident externally to the bank, which may represent slippage. This may represent the remains of a bank which surrounded this small knoll, and can be partially traced on the western side of the field wall for a distance of c. 5.00m.'
