What is recorded here
In rough pasture, on the level top of a ridge. A slightly raised oval area (diam. 20m x 24m) defined by a slight scarp with a silted-up external fosse indicated by a band of rushes. The rush-filled interior is bisected by a NE-SW field boundary and the enclosure is poorly defined on the SE side of this boundary. A levelled field boundary, visible in an aerial photograph (GSIAP, G 271-2) extending to NW from the enclosure, is not visible at ground level.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
