Enclosure in Boley Great

Enclosure

What is recorded here

On a gentle S-facing pasture slope. Shown on a Map of Boleybeg (sic) in a 1773 Survey of the Manor of Fontstown, County Kildare by Scale (NLI 21 F.11) as a square enclosure surrounded by trees. Possibly a moated site, but not recorded on any editions of the OS 6 or 25-inch maps. No visible surface trace survives. Scale’s map records a second similar site (KD031-008----) some 1200m to the ENE. Compiled by: Gearóid Conroy Date of upload: 01 October 2013
