Oughtdarra, Ballyryan and Ballynalackan are listed together in the name, yet no visible enclosure or ancient wall remains for that exact combined place. Westropp’s account points to a small enclosure at the highest, sharpest bend of a ridge near Oughtdarra church, not to a new named feature in all three townlands. The missing place may be a bend of land where memory stopped matching the road, or a name carried into one address because people still spoke it as a whole.

A small enclosure and traces of an ancient wall were described by Westropp (1905, 345) as ‘at the highest and sharpest bend’ of a ridge close to and W of Oughtdarra church (CL004-057001-).
