Enclosure in Ballykeoghan (ida By.)

Enclosure

What is recorded here

O’Kelly (1969, 98) wrote of a rath in the Raithín field, yet no line or marker remains visible in Ballykeoghan today. The land may have swallowed the ditch, or the ditch may never have been more than a boundary imagined by memory. Either way, the place resists identification.
O’Kelly (1969, 98) mentions, ‘a rath in the Raithín field’ in Ballykeoghan townland. There is no enclosure indicated on the 1st (1839) ed. OS 6-inch map or on the 1899-1902 revision. The enclosure is unlocated within the townland. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 18 October 2021
