Enclosure in Ballyinsheen More

Enclosure

What is recorded here

In undulating rough pastureland with limestone outcrops, within an extensive multiperiod field system (CL009-001001-). This subcircular enclosure (int. diams. 28.2m E-W; 25.6m N-S) is defined by a round topped, earth and stone bank (base Wth 4-4.5m; int. H 0.25m; ext. H 0.45-1.5m), cut by several livestock gaps. Extending N from the NW and NE arcs of the enclosure are two parallel, collapsed and grass-covered walls. Several depressions in the area between these walls are probably the result of quarrying.
