What is recorded here
On terrace of slope, running down from E-W, in fairly rough pasture, now reclaimed. Indicated on the 1900 revision of the OS 6-inch map as a square platform (dims. c, 40m square) with rounded corners to the NE and NW, the S side is slightly truncated by a road running roughly E-W where it meets the monument. However, on the 1st (1839) ed. OS 6-inch map this enclosure is depicted as the curtilage of a rectangular house, running E-W, with two projections on its N face and some small outbuildings along the roadside. Between 1839 and 1900 all the buildings were levelled. At a later stage the enclosure was also levelled and is not visible at ground level.
