Ballybeg Big, County Carlow: enclosure locally called rath, never cultivated, without visible surface marks. It resists description, which is why it remains memorable: a hidden boundary in open farmland, perhaps marking an old home, warning, or boundary of a lost arrangement.

In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 17 July 2007 Referred to by local tradition as 'rath' and not cultivated. No visible surface indications of an antiquity.
