What is recorded here

On a level terrace near the base of the NW-facing slopes of Ailwee Hill, surrounded by hazel scrub, whitethorn and ash. Indicated on the Cassini edition (1916) of the OS 6-inch map. An almost circular enclosure (ext. diams. 25m N-S; 23.5m E-W) is defined by a bank of earth and stone (Wth 2.3-3m; H 0.5-0.8m) on which a low modern stone wall has been built. A boulder (H0.4m) set in the outer edge at NE may be a remnant of outer wall facing. Compiled by: Gearóid Conroy and Ros Ó Maoldúin Date of upload: 16 January 2023
