What is recorded here
On a S-facing slope of Knockanastague, in improved pasture, 55m NW of a public road and 200m NE of a townland boundary with Ballincurra. Burial mound (LI032-107----) lies 270m to NW. Not depicted on OSi historic maps. Monument identified by the Bruff aerial photographic survey in 1986 (Bruff 240: AP 5/2020) as a substantial curvilinear-shaped earthwork to the immediate E of a field boundary running roughly NW-SE.
Possible monument is visible as a substantial suboval-shaped area (156m NE-SW; 137m NW-SE) enclosed by a possible arc of bank (C 157m) from W-NW and which may be incorporated into a field boundary from SW-W. A curvilinear-shaped earthwork visible from ENE-E-ESE may represent a possible arc of bank (C 90m), as seen on OSi orthoimage taken 2005-2012, on Digital Globe orthoimage taken 2011-2013 and on Google Earth orthoimage taken 20/09/2020. Possible monument is truncated by a public road across the SE sector and no potential cropmark is visible on the opposite side of the road.
