Ancient Fort in Aghamore, County Offaly: a hidden enclosure, perhaps a ringfort or boundary bank, lost to fields and time. The 1837-40 OS Field name Books still carry its name, proof that people walked past it and knew what it was. Maybe children skipped stones along its ridge, or farmers ploughed through its shadow without thinking. Enclosure means something was held back, protected, or kept separate. That much remains true even when the shape has vanished.
