What is recorded here
Embanked enclosure is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Cloonfinglas, County Roscommon, Ireland. It appears as a circular embanked enclosure about seventy metres across on the 1837 Ordnance Survey map at the bottom of a south-facing slope. A curving field wall and hedge survive from southeast to west, while another rath stands one hundred and thirty metres to the north.
Marked as a circular embanked enclosure (ext. diam. c. 70m) on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map, and situated at the bottom of a S-facing slope. A curving field wall and hedge survive SE-W (C c. 70m), but there is no evidence of the rest of the perimeter in pasture. Rath (RO021-001----) is c. 130m to the N. It is probably a rath.
