Embanked enclosure

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Embanked enclosure is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Cartron (boyle By., Danesfort Ed), County Roscommon, Ireland. It occupies a circular overgrown area about 25m wide on the SE-facing slope of a NE-SW drumlin ridge. An earthen bank and scarp define most of the perimeter, while a fosse cuts through the SW-N section and a drain circumscribes the E-S edge.
