Embanked enclosure is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Barnacullen, County Roscommon, Ireland. The subcircular grass-covered area sits on a NE-facing slope and contains lazy beds within a scrub-covered earthen bank. A fosse separates this inner structure from an outer bank that becomes a field wall on the southern side.
On a NE-facing slope. Subcircular grass-covered area with lazy beds (dims 38m E-W; 33.7m N-S) defined by a scrub-covered earthen bank (Wth 3.4-4.7m; int. H 0.6-0.7m; ext. H 1.7-2.1m) separated by a fosse (at N: Wth of top 6.5m; Wth of base 3.3m; ext. D 0.6m) which is most pronounced at S (Wth of top 8.3m; Wth of base 2m; ext. D 2.1m), from an outer bank (at N: Wth 3m; ext. H 0.65m) N-ESE which is replaced by a field wall SSE-WSW. There is an entrance (Wth 1.6m) through the inner bank and slight traces of a causeway at NE. Rath (RO045-037----) is c. 95m to the SW.
