What is recorded here

Embanked enclosure is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Ballymaging OR Castlemore, County Roscommon, Ireland. The subcircular grass-covered area measures 27m north-south and 24m east-west, bounded by a 1.5m scarp at the south and a 0.3m scarp elsewhere. A flagstone recorded in the south interior may have marked a man-made underground passage, though it cannot now be seen.
Marked as circular embanked enclosure (diam. c. 55m) on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map (MA 74), and situated towards the SE end of a NW-SE ridge, on the S-facing slope. Subcircular grass-covered area (diam. 27m N-S; 24m E-W) defined by a scarp (H 1.5m at S) NE-SSW and a scarp down to the interior (H 0.3m at N) elsewhere. There is a record of a flagstone which may have been from a Man-made underground passage (RO008-030002-) in the S interior (Gannon 1972), which cannot now be seen.
