Christchurch Deanery rose on Fishamble Street between 1731 and 1733 as the New Deanery for Dean Welbore Ellis. Edward Lovett Pearce shaped the residence, giving the church leadership a worthy home during the Eighteenth century. The building stands as a clear marker of Dublin’s ecclesiastical ambition and architectural confidence.

Bradley (1984, 101-2) mentions an Eighteenth century deanery site at Fishamble Street. This is C Christchurch Deanery which dates to 1731-33: It was the New Deanery for Dean Welbore Ellis.
