Knock on Inisbofin preserves a curving scarp north of the church, perhaps the ghost line of an ecclesiastical enclosure belonging to St Colman’s early foundation. The church occupies the south half of the graveyard, leaving the northern curve exposed like a broken sentence. That much is visible; the rest belongs to imagination, where forgotten monks may have walked a boundary no longer drawn.

Located within a graveyard (GA009D014002-) associated with the early monastic foundation established by St Colman (Gwynn and Hadcock 1970, 386), at the SE end of Inisbofin Island. A curving scarp line visible to the N of the church (GA009D014004-), which occupies the S half of the graveyard, may mark the line of an ecclesiastical enclosure.
