What is recorded here

Situated on grassland 35m W of the River Maigue. The well ‘Toberregan’ (LI030-065----) lies 240m to S. An enclosure surrounds the medieval church (LI030-064002-) and graveyard (LI030-064003-). The church at Anhid dates from the early 13th century and is recorded by Westropp (1904-5, 385) as 'a Parish and Prebend in Coshmagh. Atnid, 1201; Athnyde, 1291, 1302, and 1418; license to John F. Richard, of Athnyd, to cross the sea, 1297 (C.S.P.L, vol. iv., No. 461); Athneady or Adneady, 1306 (Plea R. 31 of xxv Ed. I.)’. Possible large ecclesiastical enclosure (approx. diam. 90m) running off the River Maigue and enclosing the medieval church and graveyard which was identified on oblique aerial photograph taken 17/07/1968 (CUCAP AVQ085/086). The enclosure is visible on the OSi orthoimage taken 2005-12 and on Digital Globe orthoimages taken 2011-2013. The ecclesiastical enclosure is visible on Google Earth orthoimage taken 16/03/2016; 28/06/2018 and 14/02/2020. A series of rectangular earthworks are located NW of the church enclosure are laid out on an axis parallel to the ecclesiastical enclosure and maybe a medieval field system or possible settlement associated with the ecclesiastical site.
