East Battery stood at the NE end of Whiddy Island by 1807, large enough for 100 men and eight guns. The 1842 map drew it as a circular field, but the aerial photograph shows three ranges still buried beneath vegetation. It is inaccessible now, yet the repeated shape across Whiddy Island suggests a deliberate defensive line rather than a random collection of holes.

According to Kerrigan (1981, 5) similar in dimension to the West Battery (CO118-077) and similar in layout to Middle Battery (CO118-078---). Aerial photograph (Daphne D.P.C. Pochin Mould) shows site overgrown with three ranges in centre. Built by 1807 to house 100 men and mounted eight guns. (Kerrigan 1981, 5).
