Under the quiet ground at Gurteenroe, three narrow chambers wait in darkness, cut by human hands and joined by passages so low they demand crawling. The earth itself became the building material, shaping rooms where breath might echo and shadow swallow every angle. A house appeared beside the old ringfort in 1936, breaking the surface and revealing what had hidden beneath for generations. The chambers remain small enough to overwhelm, large enough to suggest purpose, and silent enough to keep their own counsel.

Discovered in 1936 when house built beside ringfort (105-03501). Surveyed by C. Chevasse who describes three chambers, all earth-cut, sub-rectangular in plan and joined by creepways. Chamber 1: L 2.13m, Wth 0.8m, H 0.93m. Chamber 2: L 2.28m, Wth 0.9m, H 0.65m. Chamber 3: L 1.36m, Wth 0.9m. (McCarthy 1977, 257). No surface evidence.
