Earthwork in Newtown (coshlea By.) is a partially quarried oval ridge, eighteen by thirty metres, hidden in reclaimed pasture beside a northern enclosure. It resisted every historic map until gas pipeline aircraft revealed its ghost line in 1984. The missing northwest edge suggests people took stone or soil from the ancient boundary, yet enough remained for the land to keep its shape.

In reclaimed pasture. Enclosure (LI049-039----) lies 55m to the N. Not depicted on historic OSi maps. Earthwork identified as a potential levelled ringfort on Bórd Gáis Éireann Curraleigh West-Limerick gas pipeline aerial photographs (BGE 1/5000; 2580) taken 03/11/1984. Monument visible as a raised roughly oval-shaped area (dims. c. 18m NW-SE x 30m NE-SW) defined by a scarp on Digital Globe orthoimage taken between 20011-13. Appears to be the remains of an irregularly shaped earthwork that has been partially quarried away at NW which is visible on Google Earth orthoimages.
