What is recorded here

No visible trace remains, but the 1835 map marked a fort inside the liberties of Carlingford. Whatever walls or ditches once stood there have surrendered to soil and time. The absence is not emptiness; it is a shape forgotten by the surface but still named by men who measured the land when the outline could be read.
