What is recorded here
On low lying wet pasture, cut by land drains and watercourses, 60m SE of a public road and 420m E of a townland boundary with Rootiagh. Enclosure (LI032-246----) lies 240m to SW. Not depicted on OSi historic maps. Monument identified by the Bruff aerial photographic survey in 1986 (Bruff 163: AP 4/3634) as a roughly rectangular-shaped cropmark within a wider field system. Monument is visible as a rectangular-shaped earthwork (19m E-W; 12m N-S) enclosed by a wide bank (approx. Wth 5-8m) with an external fosse, as clearly seen on OSi orthoimage taken 2005-2012. Also also visible on Digital Globe orthoimage 2011-2013 and on Google Earth orthoimage 20/09/20. The presence of a wider field system is questionable on the Bruff image and may be land reclamation drainage channels in this field (4.5 acres/1.8ha). There is no obvious field system visible on modern orthoimages, although a possible oval-shaped earthwork and a rectangular-shaped earthwork are visible 15m to NW and 28m to SW, respectively, as seen on OSi orthoimage taken 2005-2012.
