Old Quarry lies beside Dupplin Castle in Perth and Kinross, a scarred edge where stone was taken before the castle became a name. The land still keeps the shape of that removal, a hollow jaw swallowing light at dusk. Perhaps men pulled chips from the rock until their shoulders bled, or perhaps they merely listened for the voice trapped inside the hill. Either way, the quarry remembers the weight of what left it.
