Duntreath Castle Gatepiers stand in Stirling as a 19th Century gate structure, still marked in the national record though the castle itself has faded from common memory. They may have framed a grand entrance, guided visitors past water or stone, and given the estate a threshold worthy of its name. What is certain is that the piars survived long enough to be measured, mapped and remembered as a separate part of the castle story.
